Music News – Neil Young, Frank Zappa, Jethro Tull

Neil Young – New Release Coming September 28, 2010

Looks like Neil Young has been busy for a little while with fellow Canadian noise maker Daniel Lanois. Young’s new album, Le Noise, is an 8 track collection of acoustic and electric songs that will most likely beckon for flannel shirts and cool autumn weather. Thanks Neil!

Frank Zappa – Congress Shall Make No Law…

Well, it’s sort of a new release. I say “sort of” because it is, as far as we can tell for now, a simple disc of Frank’s testimonial speech in front of Congress during the 1985 hearings on music censorship. There may or may not be a few synclavier recordings sprinkled in for good measure. You can check it out for yourself here. Hey, I didn’t say this was going to be good music news…

Jethro Tull – Stand Up Collector’s Edition

According to the Capitol/EMI press release over at PR Newswire, it looks like we finally have an official release date of October 25, 2010. The track list does indeed seem to contain the original album and four live BBC tracks on disc 1, plus the 1970 Carnegie Hall show on disc 2. There will also be a 5.1 surround sound DVD of the 1970 Carnegie show on disc 3. Seems a little like a waste of a disc since there’s no video footage but that’s just me…you might love the option. UPDATE: Now available here!
