Music News – Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan
Frank Sinatra – Concert Collection (DVD Set)
Coming November 2, 2010, Frank Sinatra Concert Collection features Sinatra video footage culled from the 1950s to the 1980s and spread over a staggering seven discs. Highlights look plentiful with guest appearances through the years from such luminaries as Ella Fitzgerald, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Dean Martin, and even a duet with Bing Crosby in a 1950s Holiday TV special.

From the footage I have seen over the years of some of the material, this should be a very fine release indeed. Coming in at over 14 hours, this is probably all the video footage of Sinatra you will ever need. Jeez that’s a lot of footage…you would think this was the Grateful Dead or something!
Bob Dylan – The Witmark Demos: 1962 – 1964 (The Bootleg Series Vol.9)
Hard to believe but Dylan’s popular “Bootleg Series” has reached its ninth volume with The Witmark Demos, set to release October 19, 2010. In this edition we are treated to very early demos cut by a very young Dylan for his first and second publishers, Leeds Music and M. Witmark & Sons, from 1962 and 1964. Its 47 tracks feature early versions of Dylan classics such as “Blowin’ in the Wind,” “A Hard Rain’s A-Gonna Fall,” “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right,” and even “Mr. Tambourine Man.”

It is indeed interesting that these tapes have survived all this time and will continue to serve as document of American musical history.
Amazon is offering a special bonus disc to all customers who pre-order before October 18. The disc will feature Dylan live at Brandeis University on May 10, 1963, a show which has remained unheard, and uncirculated, all these years. You can pre-order here.
