The Doors – Live in Vancouver 1970

Sometime during their 1970 Roadhouse Blues tour, The Doors found themselves way up north in British Columbia, a far cry from their southern California LA roots. Recorded on June 6, 1970 at the Pacific National Exhibition Coliseum in Vancouver, The Doors Live in Vancouver 1970 finds the band lighting up the stage with their particular brand of blues soaked psychedelia. Of course, things got even more blue when blues guitar legend Albert King sat in on four songs including “Little Red Rooster,” “Money,” “Rock Me,” and “Who Do You Love.”

The show is spread across two discs and includes highlights such as a near 18 minute “Light My Fire” and an equally long “The End.” Although the sound isn’t multi-track, the samples I have heard sound clean and clear and should provide more than enough clarity to let the full sound of the band shine through. From a historic point of view – Albert King sitting in is surely a nostalgia delight – this looks to be an interesting release in The Doors ever growing catalog of vault releases.

Release date is November 22, 2010 and as usual you can pre-order here!
